International Student Mentor

The International Student Mentor Program (ISMP), a student lead initiative, helps incoming international students adjust to their new home and get acquainted with campus and students. The ISMP is a peer support activity program which helps international students integrate at TAMIU. International students are paired with a fellow TAMIU student that will serve as their mentor for the first weeks of the semester. The following activities are hosted by the ISMP: Airport pick-up, errand runs, social networking, and special events.


The role of a mentor in the ISMP is crucial to the success of the program. Mentors are committed to assist all new international students in their transition to TAMIU and their new environment.

The responsibilities of a mentor are:

To become a mentor, please complete the ISMP Mentor Application.

*Mentors are selected on a semester basis.


All international students are strongly encouraged to participate as ‘Mentees’ in the ISMP. The ISMP is a great way to meet TAMIU students and adjust to your new home.

*All exchange students are automatically entered into the International Student Mentoring Program, however we strongly recommend that you complete an application, so we can best match you with your mentor.
